BML’s Short Play ‘One More Round’ Wins 24-Hour Play Fest

24-Hour Play Festival

Returning for the 8th year in a row to the 24-Hour Play Festival at Rhode Island’s Contemporary Theater Company, Brandon finally managed to repeat the success of his very first appearance at the fest. His play One More Round, a structurally impish sci-fi rom-com romp, snagged the festival’s Best Play award (with huge thanks to his wonderful, if randomly selected, collaborators)!

‘The Bee’s Reads’ Launches with BML as Contributing Editor

The Bee's Reads

This week marks the launch of The Bee’s Reads, a new blog that will feature a wide and bizarre range of content. I will be a writer and editor for the site and largely responsible for curating the section called “Tieranny,” featuring tierings (like rankings, but better) of just about anything you might think of.

With our motto “Whatever you want it to be(e),” we’re looking forward to filling The Bee’s Reads with all manner of thoughtful blather in the coming weeks / months / centuries. Check out my author page, and peruse the whole site!

BML Wins NY City Center’s Menken Mixtape Contest [Updated]

UPDATE: I WON! I will be performing “p@rt_of_{ur}_w0r1d” at an event showcasing the winners prior to the opening night of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater at Encores on July 27. If you’re coming to that show, be sure to get there early for the lobby performance!

NY City Center is hosting a contest to reimagine an Alan Menken song as part of their production of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater.  (You may remember my entry from their Sondheim Remix contest a few years ago.) I reworked the classic Little Mermaid tune “Part of Your World” from the perspective of a robot who wants to be human. Listen here:

NY City Center’s Sondheim Remix Contest [Updated]

Check out my entry in City Center’s Sondheim Remix contest, “Finishing the Rap: The Seurat Mixtape.” Inspired by the musical Sunday in the Park with George, it adds samples from the original cast recording to additional instrumentation and rap vocals by me. Listen here:

UPDATE: Though I did not win, I’m pleased to announce that my song will be featured along with other outstanding
runners-up at the culminating presentation before the June 26th performance of Tick, Tick, Boom.
